What Is Energy Healing and Magnetism? A Beginner's Guide

"Energy healing" and "magnetism" get used a lot in wellness spaces, often without much explanation. Here's what they actually mean.

What magnetism actually is

Magnetism, or magnétisme in French, is a hands-on energy healing tradition with a long history in France. Rather than working the muscle or tissue directly the way massage does, the practitioner acts as a kind of conduit, using touch and intention to help ease blockages in the body's subtle energy and support it back toward balance.

How it's woven into a Visaj session

In a Visaj session, magnetism is woven directly into the physical technique, not layered on top of it. While the hands move through the facial lymphatic drainage sequence, that same touch is also working energetically, which is part of why clients often describe feeling lighter or calmer afterward, as if something they'd been quietly carrying has eased.

The session also closes with a dedicated energy healing moment of its own, separate from the massage itself, a few minutes at the very end entirely focused on that energetic work, giving it space to settle on its own terms.

Belief isn't required

This isn't about belief or ritual for its own sake. Most clients don't come in thinking about the mechanism, they simply notice the felt experience: a sense of calm that goes beyond what a purely physical massage tends to leave behind. It's offered as a complementary practice, not a medical treatment.

If you'd like to explore energy healing and magnetism further as their own dedicated practice, beyond the face, Lyran offers sessions focused specifically on this work. At Visaj, it remains part of the wider ritual, paired with facial lymphatic drainage in every 60-minute session.
